Medical Excuse Note Policy

ɫ��ֱ�� recognizes the adult relationship between college students and their instructors. Attendance/participation policies related to specific courses should be outlined in class syllabi and communicated to students by their instructors. Illness is only one of the many reasons that may lead to a student not attending a scheduled class. Ultimately, attending class is the responsibility of a student.

Students sometimes have physical or mental health issues that cause them to miss class. In these situations, students should follow the recommendations outlined in the Attendance Statement found in the Academic Catalog. Students and instructors should know that ɫ��ֱ�� Health Services providers do not provide excuse notes related to class absences.

Falsifying absence from class is a violation of the ɫ��ֱ�� Respect for Academic Honesty Policy, which states in part that “students may not falsify an excuse for an absence from an examination, test, quiz, or other course requirement.”
